VISA SUPPORT
For entry to the Russian Federation foreigners must provide a visa support document and apply for their Russian visa in a consulate of the Russian Federation abroad.
Tourist visa is valid for a maximum of 30 days and allows for a single or double entry. Business visa allows for single, double or multiple entries and is valid from between one and twelve months.
Visa obtaining procedure is subject to national law, administrative procedure of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Federal migration service, and international agreements.
For procurement of visa you should apply to Russian consulate. You will need to provide a visa support document (also known as a letter of invitation) from a licensed organization in Russia, your original passport, the signed consulate visa application form, single recent photo. The consulate may ask for medical certificate and insurance. Please do not forget to specify the whole list of documents at your consulate!
To apply for a tourist visa to enter the Russian Federation you will need to provide an official tourist invitation (travel voucher) corresponding with your visa application. The visa support is delivered by email and is recognized by Russian Consulates worldwide allowing you to apply for your visa with the Consulate of your choice.
To apply for a business visa you will also need to provide an invitation (a copy by email, or the original) from Federal Migration Service (FMS) or an electronic Telex message from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of the Russian Federation. An invitation allows you to apply for your visa with the Consulate of your choice. A Telex message is sent straight to the Consulate you put on your visa support application form.
Please notice: arriving in Russia each foreigner must apply for registration within 3 working days. When going through passport control all foreigners are required to fill in a migration card. This card is used to apply for registration. If you stay at hotel during your trip, hotel staff will take care of your migration registration. Leaving Russia please do not forget to hand in your registration at passport control.
